I would like to know the functions of a wire/wireless router, a wire/wireless network adapter and a modem in simple english if possible. thanks.

A wireless router is a machine that connects to the source of your Network or Internet connection and transmits it to other devices wirelessly.

A Network Adapter is something that can be plugged into a laptop or other device to allow it to connect to the router since it didn’t have the ability before.

A modem, in simple terms, is like Network Adapter that can connect to the Network or interact with it but provides a basis for it, often with a wire.

Can I connect my external storage usb device (1TB) via a USB ethernet adapter to my broadband network router? Is this just plug and play since there is no way to install a software driver in the external usb storage drive? Thank you.

Most of the external storage devices are not designed to work as stand alone equipment. You need to plug in your external storage to a computer in order for it to be able to function.
