Question: How to become a cisco network technician?
Hi I’m currently doing a course in Cisco Interconnecting Network Devices part 1 and will go o to do part 2. My question is where do I go from here to become a Cisco network technician and how long would it take? Or what other career fields should I be looking at ?

You need to find a job in networking. Look for position titles like Assistant Network Administrator or Assistant Systems Administrator. You probably won’t get a full (non-assistant) job as most companies will want 3-5 years experience. If none of those are available you will just have to take whatever tech job comes along and work your way into it.

Get a book, and study hard. It also helps to get hands on experience. You can go to ebay and pick up some old routers and switches, and make a lab. You may also want to try the ccent before going for the ccna.

What type of Cisco Certification? There are many certificates to be earned.
CCENT -entry level networking
CCNA Cisco Certified Networking Associate
CCNA VOICE same as above with Voice
CCNA Security…….
CCNA Wireless ….
CCDA Cisco Design

However, you should not go in blind otherwise it will be much more difficult.
I used the 640-802 simulator along side 6 months of classes just to pass the exam.
If you can self teach and absorb your readings, more power to you. It’s always nice to have a CCIE teach you though…

my dad and uncle keep telling me that if i become cisco certified, i can make a lot of money in the future. they want me to take the courses as soon as possible..but i dont know what age you have to be to begin.

You can find a lot of study-guides and such online to start studying whatever age you are.

There was a Cisco CCNA course when I was still in high school, and most people taking it were under 18. I knew a couple people that actually took the test. You should be fine.
