Question: How do get my laptop connect to the same network with the computer connect to the modem and the router?
I want to connect my laptop to the desktop computer’s network wirelessly but I don’t know how. On my laptop its connect router’s network but I can’t connect it to the desktop’s network. There’s two separate networks but I can get both computers connected to one. Is there a way to do that? The desktop computer is connect to the cable modem and the router. Sorry if this all sounds confusing,

have you enabled home/small office networking on your desktop? I think thats whats missing. you will need to do that on your laptop also

Question: How to connect a second router to my network?
I have a home network that is up and running. It consists of a cable modem, a non-wireless router and two computers.

My cable provider provides me with two DHCP IP addresses that are pingable on the Internet.

I would like to connect a second router to my network and give it the second DHCP IP address that my Internet providers gives me.

How would I do that?

As most modems only have one ethernet port, you’re going to need a switch. Plug the Modem into the Switch. Now plug the Switch into both Routers. All done. RouterA has one ip address, and RouterB has the other ip address. Make sure that you configure the routers so they are on different networks, for example, 192.168.1.0 and 192.168.2.0.

if router inetwork is usecured …how do you connect a new lap top? (is it necessary to “configure laptop”?

I dont have a clue. But if i had to suggest something, i would try and set up your router for your computer. Laptops cant do as things fast as a computer. Or try going to the playstation blog and posting something there.

Question: How to connect my HP Pavillion 4455 to internet using my 2Wire Modem and Network Router thats on my Dell 2400?
The 2WIRE is Wi-Fi compatible & has wireless 802.11b networking. I just have no idea how to it. My Dell desktop 2400 is in my bedroom and the HP Pavillion 4455 is just in the other room.

You should be able to connect both computers into your 2Wire modem. This is really important. When you got the 2Wire did they send you extra filters that should come with the kit?

If you have a separate outlet where a phone, printer or anything else is not plugged in to it, you could save yourself a lot of headache that way. If not, you will need to filter EVERYTHING that is currently connected to that outlet to avoid signal interferrence.

Do you have an ethernet cable? If not, you can buy one from Bestbuy or Staples or Radio Shack. You will need to 2 of them for both your computers. Plug it in to your computer’s USB port then plug in the other end to your 2Wire. Make sure it is plugged to the Local Ethernet port and NOT the phone line port.
