Has anybody taken the Cisco Certified Network Associate through the Open University?

Question: Has anybody taken the Cisco Certified Network Associate through the Open University?
Just wondering if anybody has taken the CCNA course to prepare them for the exam through the open university and if they’d advise taking the Comptia Network + before undertaking this course? Any advice would be greatfully appreciated! Many Thanks! Robyn

Answer:

Answer by Yikes!
I work for a Computer Training school. I haven’t taken the CCNA course but I know about it and sell it.
It isn’t a prereq to take Network+ because the Intro to Cisco Networking Technologies class is very similar.
If you were planning on obtaining your ICND then yes, I would say either take the CCNA intro course or Network+.
You should be fine. Just make sure that you take your exam at an authorized Prometric/Vue testing center.
Good luck!

How do I limit the bandwidth to a computer on a network through a Linksys Cisco N Wireless Router?

Question: How do I limit the bandwidth to a computer on a network through a Linksys Cisco N Wireless Router?
My roommate and I share an internet connection with my computer being the primary computer that supports the router. She downloads constantly and is taking up an extreme amount of bandwidth. How do I limit bandwidth to certain computers on our wireless network?

Answer:

Answer by Quadratic
That router doesn’t support a rate limit, per say, but it does support priority queueing, both wirelessly and wired.

From the router’s main configuration page (open a web browser and point it to http://192.168.1.1 by default), click on “Applications and Gaming” then “QoS”. From there it’s pretty intuitive, and you can give priority to certain computers over others, or certain programs over others, etc.

How do I kick computers off my network (through router options)?

Question: How do I kick computers off my network (through router options)?
Hey so I have a unsecured wireless network and once I log into my router (192.168.0.1) I find a list of about 15 different virtual machines that are also connected. I wrote down all the mac addresses of the machines that I want to allow to have access but how do I block the remaining stranger dangers? And no, I’m not going to password the network, just need a way to kick ips.

Why don’t you just password it like everyone else does? Problem solved.
